On this page we are now up to the weeding and planting of our hopeful crops.
At first look after the dozing and liming it looked clean but as weeds are always fun, we had a few ferns regrowing and at an accelerated rate. |
3 weeks after the liming the ferns now grew quickly to full size.
Wanting nothing to chance we brought out the round-up and the home made sprayer setup.
The tank getting filled and the sprayer boom in place on the cat. |
From behind the sprayer boom locked in and ready to spray.
The parts we used are common things to find.
Gas tanks that is easy to strap down on a front rack, 6 feet of rubber hose, 6 feet of pvc pipe, 5 sprayer nozzles, fuel pump, and assorted wiring things.
After the morning spray we had to run out to Rudyard and just in the nick of time got in the door. Very friendly and helpful service got us what we needed or at least very close. |
1200 pounds of fertilizer, 150 pounds of Buck Forage Oats, and 80 pounds of rye all coming from the Rudyard Co-op had us ready to begin phase two for the weekend. Sunday morning came along and we were ready to put it all down. |
hooked up and ready to spread.
After spreading the fertilizer BFO and rye we also added 56 pounds of Whitetail Institute Extreme plot mix. |
After we finished putting it all down we dragged the property with a drag.
Hopefully we now will have some good results with our project.
